FAQ
What's Included With PulseWave
Included is the PulseWave LED Lamp, a TYPE-C charging cable for the product as well as a magnet to personally control the ball of ferrofluid.
What is the substance inside?
The substance inside is called ferrofluid. Ferrofluid is a unique liquid containing nanoscale particles of magnetic materials suspended in a carrier fluid, typically oil. Engineered to exhibit magnetic properties, ferrofluid reacts strongly to magnetic fields, forming intricate patterns and spikes when exposed to magnets. Originally developed for scientific applications such as controlling liquid in space, ferrofluid has found diverse uses in technology and art due to its dynamic visual properties. In contemporary applications, it is used in devices like speakers for cooling and in artistic displays where its responsiveness to magnetic fields creates mesmerizing effects, making it a popular choice in interactive installations and modern gadgets alike.
How does PulseWave work?
PulseWave uses Ferrofluid. Ferrofluid interacts with sound by virtue of its magnetic properties and the phenomenon of audio modulation. Comprising tiny magnetic particles suspended in a fluid, ferrofluid responds to sound waves by experiencing pressure variations. These fluctuations cause the particles to move within the fluid. Surrounding magnets detect these movements, altering their magnetic fields accordingly. As a result, the ferrofluid visually represents the sound waves, creating dynamic patterns and movements that correspond to the audio input's intensity and frequency. This interplay makes ferrofluid lamps and other installations mesmerizing displays of sound-induced motion.
Is it safe?
Ferrofluid is generally considered safe when handled properly according to manufacturer guidelines. The carrier fluid, typically a type of oil, and the magnetic nanoparticles in ferrofluid are generally non-toxic in small quantities. However, direct contact with skin or ingestion should be avoided, as some formulations may cause mild irritation or other adverse reactions. It's important to handle ferrofluid with care to prevent spills and to clean up any spills promptly. Additionally, ferrofluid should be kept away from open flames and heat sources, as it is flammable. Overall, while ferrofluid is safe when used as intended and handled responsibly, precautions should be taken to ensure safety and to minimize potential risks.
