The substance inside is called ferrofluid. Ferrofluid is a unique liquid containing nanoscale particles of magnetic materials suspended in a carrier fluid, typically oil. Engineered to exhibit magnetic properties, ferrofluid reacts strongly to magnetic fields, forming intricate patterns and spikes when exposed to magnets. Originally developed for scientific applications such as controlling liquid in space, ferrofluid has found diverse uses in technology and art due to its dynamic visual properties. In contemporary applications, it is used in devices like speakers for cooling and in artistic displays where its responsiveness to magnetic fields creates mesmerizing effects, making it a popular choice in interactive installations and modern gadgets alike.

PulseWave uses Ferrofluid. Ferrofluid interacts with sound by virtue of its magnetic properties and the phenomenon of audio modulation. Comprising tiny magnetic particles suspended in a fluid, ferrofluid responds to sound waves by experiencing pressure variations. These fluctuations cause the particles to move within the fluid. Surrounding magnets detect these movements, altering their magnetic fields accordingly.
